I know what it’s like to want a healthier version of the current you.
In my late teens, my period became irregular. At first, I would miss a month or two, then it stopped for over a year. Initially I saw doctors, an endocrinologist (who was dismissive and accusatory), had various tests, but nothing was really ‘wrong’. I felt uncertain about what was going on with my body and what I could do, besides wait. In the wait, my mind would go into worry overdrive about being prepared at the slightest thought my period may be coming. While I’ll admit at the time, it was nice not having to deal with a period each month, I knew that this irregularity wasn’t normal.
While I knew I wanted to go into the medical field, the naturopathic approach to health aligned with my values of supporting the body, figuring out the underlying cause and contributing factors and taking into account mental, emotional and physical aspects. I knew that this was the field for me.
Today, my role as a naturopathic doctor is to help women who are struggling with their hormones, period-related problems and gynecological issues reduce the worry, have a greater understanding and connection to their body and get back to the things they love.
